Boonmee Yang, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota M.A. in English as a Second Language graduate student, was honored with the Stan Hooper Award for Education Excellence earlier this spring. This award recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in curriculum development and education. Drawing on his own experiences as a bilingual learner and educator, Boonmee consistently exhibits strong leadership skills and a commitment to facilitating positive change in the community. For example, Boonmee recently developed and implemented a month-long financial literacy course for Southeast Asian youth in the community. Boonmee’s commitment to his own academic success as well as the students he teaches demonstrates his capacity to have a strong impact in and beyond the classroom. Congratulations Boonmee!
