State Field Directors and Coordinators Spring 2018 Conference

The Field Placement Offices on the Twin Cities and Winona campuses hosted the State Field Directors and Coordinators Spring 2018 Conference. Staff members Jamilka Leon, Patricia Leonard, Mariann Miller and Becki Warnock hosted 30 professionals representing 20 institutions at the one day conference on the Twin Cities campus.
The theme, The Power of Connection: Connect, Collaborate, Innovate, was addressed by keynote speaker Anna Young, faculty in the Saint Mary’s University Culturally Responsive Teaching program. The day included multiple panels: school administrators, Saint Mary’s University Field Placement Supervisors as well as alumni and current students. Panelists discussed student teaching experiences in multiple urban and rural school settings and working with students of varying socioeconomic backgrounds. Participants shared best practices and unique perspectives in order for the field placement professionals in attendance to grow in their understanding of the needs of teacher candidates.
